Velda S. Bell

Senior Pastor

Rev. Velda S. Bell, a native of North Carolina, began her appointment at Levy UMC in June 2006, following six years at Wesley-Springdale. She earned an M-Div at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, MO--class of 2000, and was ordained an Elder in 2002. While in seminary she served as a student pastor and a hospital chaplain, is a former social worker with abuse and neglect, and has worked with refugee resettlement, juvenile services, sales training, and as an executive recruiter. Pastor Bell’s ministry focus is to make and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ and to welcome all cultures and generations as a vital and active part of the church family. She likes many styles of Christ-centered worship, and is drawn to intercessory prayer and Holy Communion. Currently she is on the Arkansas Conference Hispanic Ministries Team and is an active participant in the Walk to Emmaus. She enjoys traveling, saltwater fishing, reading, community involvement, and dancing. Her daughter, Susie, is in high school and a member of the Levy youth group.
