Mission and Ministry Organizations and Programs
It is the goal at Levy United Methodist Church that every member be in ministry. It is our expectation that every member will join one or more of our ministry teams. Every team is open to anyone who wants to live out their ministry in that particular area.

As church members are called to a particular ministry they are encouraged to recruit team members and begin a new Ministry Team. As ministry opportunities become evident within our faith community teams will be formed to carry out the ministry and the team chief will become a member of the Church Council.

Please place a check mark by the Ministry Team(s) of your choice and return this form to the church office. If you have any questions about the tasks of any of the teams contact the church office.

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

The Prayer Shawl Ministry at Levy United Methodist Church is one of many ways we tend to the varied needs of our congregation and community. Our shawls are begun, worked and finished with prayer. Each shawl brings to the recipient the warmth, love and concern that, through prayer, have been absorbed into every stitch. Both women and men knit or crochet the shawls at home or at a monthly gathering at church. Prayer shawls are made to give to people who hurt - those who are grieving, lonely, homebound or in physical need - within our church and beyond.

Anyone may give a prayer shawl. Just call the church office 501 753-6041 to request a shawl or to learn more about joining this worthy project. After learning how a prayer shawl had impacted the lives of many people in other churches we began this outreach ministry. You can become part of this ministry by making shawls, or by requesting a shawl for a friend or loved one who is in need. United Methodist Women

The history of United Methodist Women goes back to 1869 when eight women in Boston formed the Women's Foreign Missionary Society to meet the needs of women and children.

Today more than one million other women, including the members of United Methodist Women of this congregation, continue this heritage of service to others. United Methodist Women is an organized group of women to work under the direction, authority and example of Jesus Christ, for the continuing humanization of God's world, mobilizers for the resources of women, and active participants in the global mission of the church.

We support mission projects - local, national and around the world - with our love, gifts and prayers. We try to support our women with fellowship in times of difficulty and loneliness. We try to become whole persons through reading, study and prayers. If we were to sum up our purpose, we would say "Mission is our reason for being!" A United Methodist Woman is a dreamer or worker, dreaming great dreams for her children, her church and her country, and working to make those dreams comes true. She's a link with the past, a powerful force in the present and an investment in the future. General meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month alternating between days and evenings. Small groups meet at various times during the month.

Nicole Cessna is the current President. There is a teen group in our UMW called the "Teen Angels" which meets on a regular basis. They participate in the mission of UMW with special projects. One of their ministries is to adopt some of our home bound members as "grandparents".

UNITED METHODIST MEN

United Methodist Men is an organization whose primary purpose is to help the members know God, grow spiritually, and seek His will daily. Members are encouraged to participate in the total life of the church and to declare the centrality of Christ in their lives and in all their relationships.

The UMM members often volunteer to provide some of the maintenance for our facilities.

Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Church. The meetings always begin with a prepared meal, with business meeting and program following. Usually the program is presented by a guest speaker and is on a wide range of subject matter. The president of this group is Rusty McAllister.

They meet with the Northside United Methodist Men (a sub-district group) (aka: North Pulaski UMM) once each quarter at a different "Host" Church. The Northside meetings begin at 7:00 pm and follow the same basic format as the Levy UMM.
