This class also has several socials during the year and has the largest membership of any Adult Sunday School class. They are celebrating their 50th year in 2003.
Edith Anderson Telephone Sunday School Class
This special class was organized for our permanent and temporary home-bound members and friends. Through modern technology we can add these home-bound members to an on-going Sunday School Class each Sunday. To join this group just call Jim Lane.
Faith Seekers Class
This class meets in the Church Parlor and is taught by Brad Smith and Richard Wilson. Members include young adults, singles and couples. They use various United Methodist related books and study guides for discussion. About 20 persons have joined thus far with an average attendance of 12 or so. A great group!
Fellowship Class
The Fellowship Class consists of married couples and single persons from age 45 and up. Under the leadership of teacher Carolyn Cessna, this class is using the Adult Bible Study series. Social activities are held at least monthly at the homes of the members or a potluck dinner at the church. This class meets in Fretwell Hall.
The Joshua Tree Sunday School Class
One of our newest Sunday School classes has taken the name “The Joshua Tree”. They chose this name because they wanted to reflect their spiritual journey manifested in today’s language. Joshua is the Greek equivalent to Jesus. Tree--is the symbol for our journey. A tree should produce fruit for people to see and enjoy. It should have deep roots and it should grow both up and out and should be big and mature at the end of age. This is a class of all ages and stages. They meet for fellowship and meals. In this class you will finds singles and marrieds (20 something and up). If you are seeking great fellowship, Bible study and spiritual maturity this is the class for you. They meet in the Pastor’s Study and the teachers are Rick Jones, Phyllis McKenzie and Sandy Stokes.
McHughes Class
This class was organized and named for N. A. McHughes soon after the organization of Levy Methodist Church. Our members consist of homemakers, business and professional people, semi-retired and retired people. All are involved in the activity of our church: UMW, Choir, UMM, and Committee Chairpersons, holiday special events and many other aspects of work and commitment throughout the church. We are active in civic and community volunteer work. We study the International Adult Bible Series, which teaches us a basis for our daily living through the teaching of Jesus Christ. We meet for fellowship and holiday parties.
New Life Class
This is a growing class of both singles and couples, with ages ranging from 30's to 50's. When first established, the New Life class was unnamed for a time. The founding members were either college age, engaged or newly married couples, and even new parents. With so many "new beginnings" being represented in the class, it was unanimous that the appropriate name should be "The New Life Class". The Bible is the basis of study and discussion is welcome in this class which has been led by Carl Parchman since 1991. New Life provides a very warm and fun loving atmosphere where all persons who seek fellowship and faith based Bible study are welcome. Fun class activities include eating out, picnics/cookouts and theme parties, both for adults and thier families. Our unofficial class motto is, "It's never too late for New Life". We hope you will consider joining us.
